SPONGE TALK – Sponge Coalitions
SPONGE TALK – Sponge Coalitions will take place on 12 February 2026 and will focus on the role of local coalitions in realising sponge landscapes.
The development of sponge landscapes relies on collaboration between a wide range of actors, including agricultural and nature organisations, local initiatives, municipalities, landscape managers, and water managers. These local sponge coalitions support the physical transformation of the living environment but require time to form and must continuously evolve in response to changing conditions. Key questions addressed during the event include which actors should be involved at different scales, how responsibilities and leadership are organised when roles are shared, and how interregional sponge coalitions can be established.
The event is co-organised by T.OP Dender, Coordination Senne, and Water+Land+Scape coalitions.
