Publication launch “Wetlands in a changing climate”
Virtual event via Zoom
The launch of the open access volume “Wetlands in a Changing Climate: Restoring Coasts and Floodplains” will take place on 26 February 2026 from 10:30 to 12:00 CET via Zoom and is open to everyone working on or interested in wetland restoration at the biodiversity-climate interface. This includes government agencies, EU institutions, research institutes, implementation projects and NGOs.
As a participant, you will gain insights into:
- The vulnerability of riverine and coastal wetlands to climate change - and strategies for boosting their resilience
- How to evaluate and communicate the multifunctional benefits of wetland nature-based solutions
- Lessons learned from restoring coasts and floodplains all across Europe
- How to scale up wetland action in the context of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation
The Special Issue “Wetlands in a Changing Climate: Restoring Coasts and Floodplains” includes 15 peer-reviewed articles by over 100 European authors. It combines the newest findings from wetland science, practice and policy in one transdisciplinary volume of the open access journal Nature Conservation.
The publication originates from the project "BioClim-Wetlands", commissioned by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) with funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUKN) and implemented by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), iDiv and adelphi, in cooperation with the ENCA Interest Group on Climate Change and supporting the implementation of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
