Freshwater, Wetlands, and Sponge Landscapes for Resilient Europe: Policy Insights from Flagship Projects
Maison de la Poste, Brussels
Freshwater, Wetlands, and Sponge Landscapes for a Resilient Europe: Policy Insights from Flagship Projects is a hybrid policy event taking place on 10 March 2026, from 13:00 to 17:00 CET, at Maison de la Poste in Brussels. The event is co-organised by MERLIN, WaterLANDS, SpongeScapes, and SpongeWorks.
Europe is entering a decisive phase in the implementation of the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR). This joint policy event presents key insights from four Horizon flagship projects and provides a space for exchange with EU and national decision-makers.
The event highlights practical tools and success stories from freshwater, wetland, and sponge landscape restoration initiatives across Europe. It also includes short video messages from restoration implementers and facilitates discussion on two key themes essential for upscaling restoration under the NRR: scalability, economic sectors and financing.
